Aspire:

We are uncompromisingly ambitious for our learners; we set high targets and provide equal opportunities for all, supporting and scaffolding so that ALL children are able to achieve to their potential. Our curriculum is based around inspirational topics, ensuring children are keen to learn and work is meaningful. Our approach to learning is fully inclusive, and all learners are respected for who they are, and treated with fairness and honesty. By exposing children to aspirational experiences and people, we actively teach children to aim high, to see making mistakes as a valuable experience and to know that hard things take effort, but that with effort hard things are possible.

Belong:

The Rissington School prides itself on the welcoming and supportive environment that is evident throughout the school. We know that children learn most successfully when they are happy and feel comfortable in their surroundings. All children are considered unique, and individual strengths and views are celebrated and respected. Every member of our community is important as an individual, but we acknowledge that by working together we can achieve more. We organise our curriculum so that we promote co-operation and understanding between all members of our community and use the community and local area to enrich the curriculum. We actively promote British Values, ensuring that our pupils are responsible members of the global community.  We value our environment, and aim, through our curriculum, to teach respect for our world, and how we should care for it for future generations, as well as our own.  We actively seek opportunities to use the outdoor environment as a stimulus for, and a place to enhance, learning - recognising the impact that Outdoor Learning can have on a child’s engagement, the development of independent learning skills and how it can add context to learning.

Challenge:

At the Rissington School, we teach our pupils to see challenges as opportunities, and that with effort and by sharing their strengths they can overcome these and achieve. By delivering a creative and broad curriculum, we foster a love of learning in all areas, and aim to support children in the development of skills to make them life-long, independent learners through the development of a Growth Mindset. Our stimulating and challenging curriculum promotes respect for the views of each individual child, as well as for people of all cultures. We teach our children to challenge and question concepts, ideas and stereotypes, and to be independent members of society. We value the spiritual and moral development of each person, as well as their intellectual and physical growth.
